Summer Lovin'

Hey friends~

Summer continues to keep us very busy...but I did manage one little project this week. Every person I know has done one of these, and I finally got around to doing my own.

Here she is before:

and here she is after:

I ran out of white spray paint and couldn't get into all the little nooks and crannies, but I like it that way. To make it, I took out the glass and painted the picture with chalkboard paint. And I'm loving chalkboard paint pens - have you tried them?!

edited to add: the picture was already adhered to some type of board, so I just painted over it with several coats of chalkboard paint. I would've just painted the board by itself if the picture hadn't been stuck to it already. :)

Our garden is blessing us with pretty blooms, even though we haven't been fussing over it this year:

I also have one pressing question, that has been weighing heavily on my mind this week.

Who exactly is Debbie and why did she have to go and create these?

Why?

Happy summer, y'all! :)

Summer Mantel Inspiration

Hi, friends~

I've been looking for some quick, simple and beautiful touches to summer-ize the mantel and found these lovely photos.

A few smooth rocks, some starfish, a couple of shells, white/light frames or plates -simple little things that make everything instantly light and breezy. :)

A mantel filled with light colors and shells, so lovely and summery to me. It belongs to Missy of Daily Portion. Thank you for letting me show it, Missy!

Here are a few things on my own mantel, gathered from around the house. Several wide-mouthed glass containers (wide enough to put shells down in), shells, starfish, smooth rocks, and some vases for greenery.

I have only one large hurricane candle holder, but I accidentally came up with a makeshift one. I wanted to elevate one of the glass jars, so I put it on a glass dollar store pillar candle holder, and it was a perfect fit.

Instant pedestal there on the left. :)

And here's the other end of the mantel~

Instant summer lightness to balance out that dark-framed mirror. :)

I hope you have a light and breezy weekend!
